The Internet Governance Forum (IGF)
This is the official Web site of the Internet Governance Forum (IGF), run by the IGF Secretariat. Its purpose is to support the United Nations Secretary-General in carrying out the mandate from the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) with regard to convening a new forum for multi-stakeholder policy dialogue - the Internet Governance Forum (IGF).

The Government of Brazil will host the second IGF meeting. It will take place in Rio de Janeiro on 12 - 15 November 2007.
Preparing for the Second Meeting of the IGF

Stakeholders were invited to send in contributions, as an input into these consultations. A synthesis paper summarizing the contributions as well as comments posted in the discussion space of this Web site is available for download.
The programme outline will be revised in light of the dicussions and comments received. All stakeholders are encouraged to submit comments on an on going bases to the IGF Secretariat ( email@example.com) or post them in our online discussion section.
The audio and video archives will be made available in due course.
As a first step for preparing the Rio de Janeiro meeting a stock taking session took place on 13 February 2007. A synthesis paper summarizing the online contributions was made available. The full transcript of the meeting is available for download and the Chairman's closing remarks can be downloaded separately for easy access. The Web cast of the session can be accessed here and a list of participants can be viewed here.
Inaugural Meeting of the IGF
The Inaugural Meeting of the IGF took place in Athens, Greece from 30 October - 2 November. More details about the meeting are available here.
The Governments of India and Egypt offered to host the 2008 and 2009 IGF meetings respectively, while the Governments of Lithuania and Azerbaijan made a bid for the 2010 meeting.
