New Session Formats at IGF 2016

IGF 2016 will see the launch of three new, dynamic session formats.

20-MINUTE LIGHTNING SESSIONS

What are they?

Lightning sessions are intended as quicker, more informal versions of full-length talks or presentations. High-scoring workshop proposals with compatible formats which were not originally selected during the IGF 2016 workshop evaluation process have been brought in and re-formatted for the lightning sessions programme.

When are they?

The sessions will be on Days 1 through 4 of the IGF during the lunch breaks. Six sessions will run in sequence on each day, from 13.00 to 15.25.

See the schedule of sessions here!

Where are they?

Lightning sessions will take place in an open area, between the entrance of the venue and the IGF Village. The restaurant area where participants will gather for lunch is adjacent. Place it on the venue map.

CORNER SESSIONS

What are they?

Corner sessions take place simultaneously in four corners of a room. They emerge based on what the participants present most want to talk about: issues are proposed on post-its placed on a board, and the most popular ones move on to discussion into the corners of the room.

When are they?

Corner sessions will take place on Day 3 of the IGF (Thursday, 8 December), from 9.00 to 13.00.

Where are they?

The sessions will be in Workshop Room 5. Place it on the venue map.

UNCONFERENCE SESSIONS

What are they?

Unconference sessions are talks which are not pre-scheduled. Participants reserve a speaking slot by signing themselves up on a scheduling board on a first-come, first-serve basis on the day of the Unconference.

Unconference sessions will take place on Day 3 of the IGF (Thursday, 8 December), from 15.00 to 18.00.
