Miller, Cheryl Ann

As Director of International Public Policy and Regulatory Affairs at Verizon, Cheryl Miller’s portfolio includes Internet Governance, IANA Transition, Privacy, Broadband Access, and Competition Policy. She is a member of the Executive Committee for the Internet Governance Forum (IGF) Support Association, and has worked to raise awareness of the IGF and increase funding to the Secretariat's Office.

Cheryl began her technology career at Sun Microsystems, Inc., where she served as a Legislative Affairs Assistant and focused on various telecom policy issues, including international privacy policy. She later served as Manager of Regulatory Affairs for France Telecom (FT). Cheryl left FT to serve as Assistant Chief Counsel for Telecommunications for the U.S. Small Business Administration's Office of Advocacy, where she advocated on behalf of women-owned, minority, and small telecom operators and technology firms before the White House and the FCC, drafting numerous comment letters and contributing to the National Broadband Plan. She next served as Deputy Staff Director for Technology and Innovation at the U.S. Senate Small Business Committee.

Cheryl has participated in the open MAG meetings in Geneva and Paris as an observer to help prepare for the 9th IGF in Istanbul, and participated in the WSIS + 10 review process to explain the importance of the IGF and advocate for its renewal after 2015. During the 8th IGF in Bali Cheryl spoke on a panel to discuss gender and Internet issues. After accepting her nomination to the IGF Support Association’s Executive Committee, she is working to expand the IGF’s funding base. In addition, Cheryl is currently working to set up an ad hoc working group aimed to address connecting the next 5 billion people.
