Many thanks to Michael Ilishebo, who volunteered just now on the MAG meeting chat to join Sala and me as a third co-facilitator.

I will work with Sala and Michael to develop an initial discussion document to circulate to the cyber-trust-privacy list at the start of next week.

Dear Cyber-Trust Privacy Main Session group

We seem to be up to 16 people on the list (https://na01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fintgovforum.org%2Fmailman%2Froster%2Fcybersecurity-trust-privacy_intgovforum.org&data=02%7C01%7Cbewallis%40microsoft.com%7C4dc0d3f91ea74e0a020108d619d00250%7C72f988bf86f141af91ab2d7cd011db47%7C1%7C0%7C636724778515904510&sdata=vjXICuND54Yh91HYZ2wHNY3Uu%2FgZG0YkyIBKqDajc98%3D&reserved=0) now. Also, I understand there was a reminder on yesterday's MAG call (which I unfortunately missed) of the need to get started with organisation of the Main Sessions.

So I wanted to reiterate my offer to be one of the co-facilitators. As I noted in my original email (below) last month:
- I am co-facilitator for the BPF on Cybersecurity and have been working on privacy in relation to ICANN and WHOIS data over the last year, so I have some familiarity with the issues.
- This is my first year on the MAG so I have not been involved in organizing a Main Session before. I have heard that it is a lot of work, particularly for those leading the process.
- I want to note that I am committed to doing that heavy lifting but also that I will be attending the ITU Plenipotentiary Conference and will therefore not be able to attend the meeting in Paris. So if there is agreement for me to be a co-facilitator of this work it is important that another co-facilitator step forward who is attending IGF 2018 and can take responsibility for the preparations in those important final two weeks, and on the day itself.

On this last point, I note Sala's offer a couple of hours ago to join me, which is great, and we would cover two different stakeholder groups and two different regions.

I see from other Main Session groups that there can be more than two co-facilitators, so I don't want to close the door on more volunteers - maybe we should give it a few more days to see if anyone else wants to step forward.

I would also like to offer a few ideas on potential contents of the main session to get the ball rolling and invite other initial thoughts. However, I will send those in a separate email thread to separate out this thread about identifying co-facilitators from a discussion on the contents of the Main Session.

Hi everyone. Resending this email without attachments because the attachments caused the message to be too big to be allowed through.

Dear Cyber-Trust-Privacy Main Session organisers

I don't know how many people have yet signed up to the list, though Eleonora's email earlier this week noted the following people having shown interest:

  *   Salanieta Tamanikaiwaimaro
  *   Paul Rowney
  *   Renata Aquino Ribeiro
  * *June Parris (if need be)
  *   Ben Wallis
  *   Raquel Gatto
  * *Danko Jevtovic (if need be)
  *   Michael L. Ilishebo

I wanted to send an initial email to get the ball rolling. I understand we have two tasks:

  * to organize the 80-minute Main Session, drawing on the Main Session Guidelines circulated by Lynn on 13th August
  * to mentor the three mergers of workshops falling under this Theme, unless volunteers have stepped forward for them (which they have not done when Eleonora circulated the spreadsheet on 14th August)

So plenty of work for all of us!

Lynn noted that it is up to each group to manage their own process, choose co-facilitators, etc. And I would like to propose myself as a co-facilitator to organize the Main Session.

I am co-facilitator for the BPF on Cybersecurity and have been working on privacy in relation to ICANN and WHOIS data over the last year, so I have some familiarity with the issues.

This is my first year on the MAG so I have not been involved in organizing a Main Session before. I have heard that it is a lot of work, particularly for those leading the process. I want to note that I am committed to doing that heavy lifting but also that I will be attending the ITU Plenipotentiary Conference and will therefore not be able to attend the meeting in Paris. So if there is agreement for me to be a co-facilitator of this work it is important that another co-facilitator step forward who is attending IGF 2018 and can take responsibility for the preparations in those important final two weeks, and on the day itself.

We might want to wait until after Wednesday's MAG meeting (which I will unfortunately miss) in order to get a sense of general direction for this work and to provide time for others to sign up, but I thought I would break the ice and post to the list as well as offer myself up to co-facilitate the group.

Thanks
Ben
