[IGFmaglist] Visa for Turkey

Dear all

I am in a meeting of African civil society people at present, most of
whom are planning to come to the IGF in Istanbul.

They are all struggling with visas.

The reason is that for many African citizens, you can only get an e-visa
if you have a valid US or Schengen visa.

This might apply to people from other parts of the world to. In the case
of South Africa it is easy to get an e-Visa.. but this seems to be the
exception in Africa rather than the rule.

I would like hereby to request that the Secretariat and our hosts write
a message with detailed guidelines on how to get a visa which can go
onto the website, and which we can circulate widely.

And Bill, thank you for bringing up the courtesy visa issue.

It would indeed be very helpful if the visa fee could be waived.

Best regards

Anriette
