My sincere apologies, I unfortunately am unable to join today's call, but I agree with Mark and would also like to record my support for a MAG meeting in NY in September. I think it would afford a good opportunity to engage with the UN National missions on the importance of the IGF, key improvements that have been made, and answer any questions that they may have or listen to their thoughts as well.
All the best,

Subject: [IGFmaglist] Virtual MAG Meeting VIII
Dear Janis, Chengetai and MAG colleagues
I hope to pop out of a Commonwealth cybersecurity conference to join the MAG meeting shortly (on audio only).
Regarding item 4: I want to put on record my support scheduling a formal IGF/MAG meeting in New York in September (early after the summer break) . This would provide firstly an opportunity to engage the WSIS+10 review co-facilitators early in the review's preparatory process for the High Level Meeting in December.
Secondly it would be an important opportunity for the MAG to brief the UN national missions who will be taking the decision on the IGF mandate. This should cover what the IGF is, how it involves the wide range of stakeholders, the Istanbul and Joao Pessoa themes and programmes, the IGF's record of its achievements, its evolution and implementation of improvements (including those recommended by the UN Commission on Science and Technology for Development), how it is resourced, and its intersection in November with the Sustainable Development Goals. Quite a story to tell and my experience in New York at the time of the mandate renewal in 2010 is that the missions will be very receptive to briefings and data.
