[IGFmaglist] Fwd: IGF: Intersessional and WG Proposals

I am interested in our elaborating this discussion a bit before deciding as MAG members.
Here are my thoughts.
the issues of gender related abuse are serious, and deserve attention, however, this is only one part of the SDG Goal 5, which includes gender equality and empowerment.
My work with WAVE is related to both areas, but a good deal of my focus is on economic empowerment -- e.g. giving women and girls paths to economic opportunities and ways, also tries to address social and civic empowerment, which in and of itself is empowering.
Gender based abuse online is a serious and important topic. Personally, I think that both areas deserve some distinct focus. I am not suggesting to have two BPFs at this point, believe me, but I am just trying to understand the focus of those presently engaged, and wanting to be sure that we do not lose the critical focus on abuse of women and girls on line.
I will not offer to join that BPF, however, due to my personal focus in this area on the economic and leadership empowerment, but there is great inter relatedness and I do support the continuation of last year's BPF...
I do not support a general label of gender BPF, however, as as we see in Goal 5, there are several critical tracks.
But that is only my individual view.

This is great! Thanks so much for volunteering for this.

Right now, the list is called BPF on online abuse. I'll check with
secretariat to whether to create a new list or maybe rename that list as
gender

Thanks again :)
