Dear Colleagues,

[*For the sake of MAG members who were not on the call. Caveat, this is a
very brief summary and I would recommend that you take the time to go
through the Transcript and chat room logs later. This are my notes of the
Meeting intended to supplement any Minutes that were taken. This is not an
exhaustive record.*]

*Summary*

   1. The MAG adopted the Tentative Agenda that had been circulated on the
mailing list comprising of *Misc Updates by the Secretariat/Chair, incl.
WS preparations, Open Forums, Village, New Sessions, Update by the Host
Country, Review Thematic (Main) session process and preparations, MAG WG
   Updates*.
   2. The Chair gave us a update of the Workshop Preparations, Open Forums
which was supplemented by the Secretariat (Anja and Eleonora) giving us
feedback on village booth plans that will be shared with the MAG in due
course. The High Level Panel whilst not listed on the website have a slot
in the Open Forum and will be published eventually. The French Government
has picked up on suggestions from the second MAG meeting to utilise Heads
of State that will be present at the Paris Peace Forum to see how we can
encourage greater visibility for the IGF.
   3. The French Government representative, Ms Dalilah gave us a brief
update. She is also organising the Paris Peace Forum. She mentioned that
there were two other major Tech initiatives in Paris at the same time and
one was an "E-Gov" conference (it was unclear whether this was a
national initiative or an international one aside from the Paris Peace
Forum. Given that the French staff are on vacation, the website and the
information relating to venue, logistics would be available to the MAG in
early September, 2018. They have started discussions and work on getting
visas sorted for IGF attendants and will keep us updated on the progress.
   4. There was a brief review on the Main Sessions and MAG members who
have yet to fill in the Doodle Poll
<https://doodle.com/poll/8zdftx42xzsaa2fe> are encouraged to do so as at
the time of the meeting on 26 of the 55 MAG members had filled in the
Doodle. The same Doodle Poll will allow the Secretariat to assign those MAG
members who wish to mentor workshops that require mentoring based on sub
themes. The point was also made that not all would want to mentor and that
this should be on a voluntary basis only. Preferences can be indicated to
the Secretariat should they wish to volunteer to mentor mergers etc.
   5. Various MAG Working Group Chairs or members in the absence of Chairs
gave their updates on the progress of the Working Group. The detailed
reports will be available via the Transcripts. Suffice to say the Working
Group on Evaluation has not met since the MAG meeting in Geneva, the WG on
Outreach gave their updates and said that they had prepared materials in
both English and French, the WG on Fundraising gave an update on what they
have done so far and whom they intend to target. The WG on Multi Year
Strategic Planning gave an update on the number of methodologies and
reports on review of the IGF and the different tools that they were
reviewing for consideration and that they are almost ready to select the
Tool. The point was made to have this opened up to the MAG to input and to
   weigh in their considerations.
   6. Given that there are common threads and elements in the various
Working Groups, that at some point, it is useful to consolidate the WG
recommendations to bring these to the wider MAG for review/endorsement and
implementation. The suggestion was made that this could be scheduled thrice
a year. All MAG members are invited to subscribe to the Working Groups on
   the IGF website.
   7. The Working Group on Evaluation will be scheduling a virtual meeting
to review the process and it is expected that this will be open to ALL MAG
and submissions are invited from all MAG members whilst this is still fresh.
   8. There were also calls to make the IGF increasingly relevant and a
separate virtual call would be made to discuss this.
   9. As the meeting concluded, Sylvia Cadena (APNIC) and (APrIGF
Organising Committee) invited the MAG to remotely participate at the APrIGF
and advised that Vint Cerf, Chengetai Masango would be attending. For
remote participation, visit http://aprigf.vu/archive/ and to see Agenda

Sincerely,
Sala
