The main sessions have had host country chairs in the past.  Their role was more symbolic than substantive, and so I might consider this a hold-over from the guidelines when drafted for the IGF in Mexico (2016). I was not a MAG member last year, but it is my understanding that this was not last year's practice, nor is it intended to be this year's practice. Accordingly, barring any major objections we can delete the provision.

very well done, these Guidelines seem to be very useful for setting up main sessions appropriately and consistently.

There is one point I'm wondering how to understand. Point 3, 6) a) i) reads:

a) The role of the on-site moderator includes: i) Introducing the host country chair, session theme, and speakers;


Does this mean that each main session would have a host country chair?

Attached, please find the revised Main Session Guidelines for your review, prior to our upcoming virtual meeting.  The Guidelines have been streamlined for user-friendliness, from 6 pages to 3.  Because they are intended to apply to all Main Sessions, we have built in flexibility for main sessions allocated by the MAG to other groups (e.g. NRIs and DCs).   The document has gone through several iterations.  Thank you Raquel, Paul, Sylvia, Nataša, Anja, Elenora and Lynn for their contributions.
