Dear colleagues,

The Dynamic Coalition on DNS Issues would warmly welcome your circulation of, and/or participation in, the brief survey described in the letter below.

Sincerely,
Susan, on behalf of the DC-DNSI Secretariat

PS - Apologies for any cross-postings
Greetings.
As someone involved in internet policy, you are receiving this email at the request of the Internet Governance Forum (IGF) Dynamic Coalition for DNS Issues (DC-DNSI<https://gcc01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.intgovforum.org%2Fmultilingual%2Fcontent%2Fdynamic-coalition-on-dns-issues-dc-dnsi&data=02%7C01%7Cschalmers%40ntia.gov%7C418a508376304dc6d6c308d75ecc0fa5%7Cd6cff1bd67dd4ce8945dd07dc775672f%7C0%7C1%7C637082102836675072&sdata=3IEdTJVgr8XYVSGxyHGhVkhzEOmhaLJIqfCpSWdvq2E%3D&reserved=0>). The DC-DNSI works to build unique and constructive dialogue on DNS issues that complements, but does not duplicate or compete with, work undertaken within ICANN and the IETF. Our first "issue" is understanding barriers to adoption of IDNs and Universal Acceptance (UA) awareness in the public sector.
DC-DNSI has been working on outreach and awareness since our formation in 2018. We are now focusing on understanding UA from the perspective of governments. Accordingly, we are launching a two-part survey initiative: a pilot survey for initial hypothesis testing that will inform the second, more expansive market survey (TBD late 2020). Participation in the survey is why we are contacting you today.
We respectfully request your support in completing this survey and sharing it within your network. The survey takes less than 10 minutes to complete. The respondents we seek have the following local, state or national public sector roles:

  1. IT/information office employees and management - the teams that are responsible for the delivery and maintenance of web services.
  2. Influencers within government - parties inside or outside government with a valued opinion that can shape implementation.
  3. Individuals who design information policy and strategy, e.g., individuals within and ICT ministry that establish broad internet goals for a government.
  4. Contractors or vendors that sell IT products, particularly those with web interfaces and using online forms and data collections to the public sector.
The survey is available at this link<https://gcc01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fdocs.google.com%2Fforms%2Fd%2Fe%2F1FAIpQLSeoVUCtV6DqE6WWNDczBNv-GEE5SkYQA-KlUVfHvbxJLOAI7Q%2Fviewform&data=02%7C01%7Cschalmers%40ntia.gov%7C418a508376304dc6d6c308d75ecc0fa5%7Cd6cff1bd67dd4ce8945dd07dc775672f%7C0%7C1%7C637082102836685013&sdata=czoFaCfXSoOlFQEp4J7mkhtnI%2FE6s8Fdoyy2N6aqbHA%3D&reserved=0> and will be live from 1 November - 12 November. All data will be restricted to use by the DC-DNSI, which will report the data only in aggregate categories to protect the privacy of the respondents. These anonymized results will be part of a report presented at our DC session of IGF 2019: Berlin in late November.
We sincerely value your time and appreciate your participation. This survey is an important step to building awareness around UA and driving adopts IDNs and new TLDs, both of which are critical technical components of internet accessibility.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Melinda Clem from the DC-DNSI secretariat at mclem at afilias.info<mailto:mclem at afilias.info>. Melinda and Dennis Tan Tanaka will both be in Montreal for ICANN66 and are always excited to chat about UA!
Kind Regards,
    The DC-DNSI Secretariat
