    Description:

This workshop focuses on the critical role of Internationalized Domain Names (IDNs) in promoting Internet diversity, universal applicability (UA) and global digital inclusion. We will explore the current status of IDN development in different countries and regions, the challenges faced and the future direction of development, and share best practices in technology implementation, policy formulation and user promotion. Through multi-stakeholder dialogues, we aim to provide policy recommendations and cooperation opportunities for building a more open, inclusive and interconnected Internet ecosystem, and to ensure that all users, regardless of their linguistic and cultural backgrounds, have equal access to and participation in the Internet.
    Expected Outcomes
The workshop is expected to achieve the following outcomes: first, to develop technical and policy recommendations on IDN rollout to inform governments, international organizations, and the private sector; and second, to raise public awareness of the importance of IDNs for digital inclusion and sustainable development of the Internet. The workshop will result in a post-event report summarizing the key outcomes including dialogue perspectives, recommendations, and will be submitted to the IGF as part of the IGF 2025 summary report.
Hybrid Format: The conference will be streamed live via Zoom, the official online platform of the IGF, to ensure that both on-site and online participants will be able to view the conference content simultaneously. At the same time, the conference will have a dedicated online moderator and rapporteur who will be responsible for interacting with and guiding online participants.
