Briefing to Member States | UNHQ, 16 April
On 16 April 2026, a briefing was held at United Nations Headquarters in New York to share the outcomes of the IGF Expert Group Meeting and provide an update on the implementation of the IGF’s permanent mandate. The session was attended by more than 90 stakeholders representing a wide range of Member States.
During the briefing, the Permanent Representative of Kenya to the United Nations in New York announced Kenya’s commitment to host the 21st annual IGF meeting in Nairobi from 14–18 December 2026. Member States expressed strong support for the IGF and its permanent mandate, recognizing its continued value as a UN platform for inclusive dialogue, cooperation, and capacity building. The discussions highlighted a shared understanding that the IGF is entering a new phase, with clear expectations for continued evolution in support of global digital cooperation.
