The Newcomers Track aims to help first-time IGF participants understand the IGF processes and to foster the integration of all new-coming stakeholders into the IGF community. Its focus is to make the meeting participant's first IGF experience as productive and welcoming as possible.

The Track is composed of several interactive sessions delivered during the IGF cycle including the annual meeting.

Engage in IGF intersessional work
The first-time participants in the IGF intersessional work are welcome to approach the IGF Secretariat with any questions they may have on ways they can participate. To learn more about the intersessional work, please visit IGF website dedicated webpages.

To enable participants to grasp the complexity of the process, a brochure has been produced. In a relatively simple way, this brochure explains what the IGF process is about and gives a good foundation to readers on the IGF process. Also, over the years, questions the IGF community has had are gathered in a set of frequently asked questions (FAQs) which also helps to understand the process.

First-time participant at IGF annual meeting
The IGF Secretariat hosts at least one IGF informational webinar and one onsite session at the annual IGF meeting, for newcomers as well as anyone else wishing to learn more about the IGF. The webinar is hosted before the annual meeting, to guide the newcomers on meaningful ways of participation in the annual meeting and share tips to maximise all the benefits from actively participating in the IGF.
At the annual IGF meeting, usually in the morning before the official start of the programme, the orientation session for newcomers is hosted. It includes an orientation on the IGF governance structure and tips to navigate the programme.
