    Description

It has been known for a long time that data and its use are the driving force of modern economy. However, it is difficult to assess how much such data is worth, for big tech that gathers it and for consumers who share it. During the session we will present the results of research that will be carried out in September 2021 by the Polish Economic Institute on the subjective assessment of the value of data. The study will use the methodologies of based on knowledge from applied behavioral sciences. As a result, we will be able to assign a monetary value to services that are currently not priced in this way - such as search engines or social media.

The discussion around the results will concern institutional issues including: -> solutions that would allow to valuate the data at the individual level, -> implementing programs to open public data or improve public services based on data, -> social control over major platforms -> understanding the nature of the new competition distortions.

The topic also fits into the subject of the platform and data economy, and the background for the entire discussion will be the evolution of the market economy model.

We will encourage participants to ask questions, both online and onsite. We don't plan to use any outside platforms. Presentation of our report will be made in attractive way both for online and onsite viewers.
