Targets: In this session, we will demonstrate how digital security localization plays a crucial role in the protection of human rights defenders – a fundamental element in in pursuing peace and democracy in Myanmar/Thailand/Cambodia. Through the sharing, the speaker will demonstrate how sustainable development can only be achieved individual liberty and the rule of law are respected and protected.

Description

This session features narratives from the Myanmar/Thailand/Cambodia pro-democracy movement highlighting the importance and impact of digital security localization in the resistance against the authoritarian rule. The speaker will share the real-life experiences of grassroots activists in Myanmar/Thailand/Cambodia using localized digital security tools and guides to protect themselves and their communities from digital surveillance, online censorship, and other forms of cyberattacks. In the sharing, localized versions of digital security resources ranging from circumvention and anonymity tools to communications and messaging apps as well as encrypted documentation and data management software will be showcased.
