Targets: AI has shown promising result when it comes to supporting most of the SDGs. The focus here will be on 3 Good Health and Well-Being, 4 Quality Education and 8 Decent Work and Economic Growth. AI can support improved and increased access to health care even in more remote areas. AI can support quality education also in areas where there is limited access. AI can be a major factor in achieving a digital transformation of economies and thereby improve access to decent work and economic growth.
Description:
The purpose of the round table is to discuss how to achieve a responsible AI-powered digital transformation in Africa. Lessons learned from Europe and Africa will be shared and discussed. We also welcome input and discussion with the audience. From Europe, Prof. Fredrik Heintz will share his lessons learned from developing the European Ethical Guidelines for Trustworthy AI as well as the EU research excellence network TAILOR developing the scientific foundations for Trustworthy AI. From Africa, Emmanuel Ekulu will share lessons learned from the African Forum for Ethics and Governance of AI and Jean Louise Fendji from AfroLeadership and Ansgar Koene from EY will share the experience from their Data Justice project.

Hybrid Format: The session will start with three short keynotes to set the stage. After each talk there will be an opportunity to ask questions, both onsite and online. Then there will be a moderated discussion involving both the onsite and online participants.
