    Policy Question(s)

Do we have policies to protect children with disabilities online?
How can we ensure children with disabilities remain safe online?

Connection with previous Messages: The session builds on IGF message No. 7 Inclusive Internet Ecosystems and Digital Cooperation.
This message acknowledges that violation of the rights of youth and minors on the Internet are a growing concern.and looks at various approaches to mitigate this. Further, the message achknowledges that digital inequalities are multilayered, and different groups (women, youth, children e.t.c) are impacted differently.

    SDGs

    10. Reduced Inequalities

Targets: Our proposal focuses on reduced inequlaities. We want to push for better digital rights for children with disabilities.

    Description:

There have been lots of discussions on child online safety but not so much focus on the safety of children with disabilities. Indeed organizations like International Telecommunication Union (ITU) have come up with guidelines on how to keep children safe online however children with disabilities are at a more vulnerable position and may need policies that are specifically targeted to their needs.

The aim of this session is to shed light to the unique challenges that children living with disabilities face, and to explore policy interventions that can push for a safer internet experience for children living with disabilities. We further hope to steer advocacy towards safer internet education for children with disabilities.
