Format
The session is structured in three main moments: fundamentals, cases, and participatory dynamic.
In the first 5 minutes, the Speaker will introduce the fundamentals of the Design Fiction method and how it works. In the next 5 minutes, we will actively discuss some use cases of Design Fiction in governance ecosystems. The last 10 minutes are reserved for engaging the audience in an participatory dynamic. People will be encouraged to bring situations to the Speaker that they think could use the Design Fiction method, thus promoting a debate on the feasibility and how to do this. In this way, the audience may have a more practical understanding of the method. We will welcome Q&A throughout the session.

Description
The overarching theme of IGF 2023 is "The Internet We Want - Empowering All People" which involves listening to different voices to create a desirable future scenario for the Internet.
Design Fiction is a design method that blends speculative scenarios and storytelling to explore potential futures and engage in critical dialogue. Design Fiction can be a valuable tool for governance discussions as it allows policymakers, decision-makers, and citizens to explore and understand the potential implications and consequences of future scenarios and policies.
This presentation shows how governance practitioners can use the Design Fiction method to create collaborative and desirable future scenarios, explore possibilities, anticipate risks, and think critically about the consequences of governance decisions.
During this presentation, we will present the foundations of the method, how it works, and some use cases to inform the audience on how to incorporate Design Fiction as an additional method when discussing Internet governance.
