A lightning talk presented in a panel format with two speakers and a Q&A session provides a diverse and comprehensive perspective on the topic at hand. By featuring multiple speakers, attendees can benefit from different viewpoints, expertise, and experiences, enriching their understanding of the subject matter. The panel format encourages dynamic interaction between speakers, fostering engaging discussions and the exchange of ideas in real-time. Additionally, the Q&A session allows audience members to directly engage with the speakers, seek clarification, and delve deeper into specific aspects of the topic, enhancing their learning experience and promoting knowledge sharing. Overall, this format maximizes the value and impact of the lightning talk by promoting collaboration, dialogue, and active participation.
Internet governance plays a crucial role in disseminating information and advancing research related to oil characterization. Carbon research, especially those linked to the petroleum industry, has an indirect yet significant relationship with internet governance. The oversight of oil and gas operations often involves the exchange of sensitive and strategic information among various stakeholders, including companies, governments, and regulators. Therefore, energy companies have a direct interest in ensuring that internet governance policies align with their security and data protection needs.
The growing global need for oil derivatives underscores the importance of technological advancements and research in this sector. Increasing oil production requires innovations that make its handling cleaner and more sustainable, aligning with demands for environmentally responsible practices. The dissemination of this information through the internet not only promotes industry development but also facilitates access to knowledge that drives new technologies and opens doors for future innovations, such as creating diesel oil from carbonaceous waste. Thus, internet governance plays an essential role in facilitating knowledge sharing and driving technological advancement in the energy sector. The speakers will dive into information on the oil sector, sustainability and data security, relating the theme with internet governance role, all based on previous experiences and on current researches.
The relationship between energy companies and internet governance debates is complex and multifaceted, with intertwined commercial, operational, and political interests in various ways. This session is based on research conducted in the UFF, a Brazilian university, and is focused on analyzing characteristics such as viscosity, density, and molecular composition of Brazilian oil, and has the potential to increase oil production by up to 5%; by using simulators to determine the amount of retained oil and its fractions under different conditions, studies can result in a more precise understanding of national oil, along with development and economic changes in countries working within the sector.
The session aims to facilitate a panel where participants will get the chance to learn about the topic, and also make suggestions and question.
Tentative agenda:
3’: Introduction and background. The moderator explains how the session will take place and points out that attendees can ask questions by using the hand-raising option or in the chat (online), or by requesting the floor (onsite).
15’: The moderator introduces the policy issues and addresses the speakers with questions in a roundtable fashion.
7’: Open floor. The moderator invites all participants to take the floor either online or onsite. And then, the rapporteur makes the key takeaways and conclusions.
The session is going to ensure interactions through a Q&A and comment section in the online application where the session will be taking place (e.g. Zoom). Both online and onsite moderators will make sure that the questions and comments are not overlooked through effective communication, but play an important role throughout the sessionAcceptance
