Targets: Develop quality, reliable, sustainable and resilient infrastructure (9.1): The session discusses maintaining a unified and secure infrastructure. Promote inclusive and sustainable industrialisation (9.2): A stable and secure Internet is fundamental for industrialisation and economic growth. Encourage innovation (9.5): A fragmented Internet can hinder innovation. Access to information and communications technology (9.C): A fragmented Internet could lead to digital divide and restricted access to information.
Round table Moderated Discussion
Title: Internet Fragmentation: The Security, Stability and Resilience of the Internet Description: This session will review the different forms of Internet fragmentation and discuss what fragmentation is and what it is not. In this session we will attempt to explore the different types of fragmentation that threaten the unity, security and stability of the Internet and discuss the potential solutions to ensure a single unified and secure Internet. Key Discussion points: What is Internet fragmentation? What are the different forms of Internet fragmentation? How do these forms of fragmentation impact the security, stability and resilience of the Internet? What measures can be taken to limit the effect of fragmentation? What is the way forward to maintain a unified and secure global Internet? This session brings together stakeholders to discuss collaborative approaches to maintain a unified, safe and secure Internet.
This session will be a hybrid session allowing equal participation to both onsite and online participants. Q:How will you facilitate interaction between onsite and online speakers and attendees? Answer: The session will have an onsite moderator as well as an online moderator. Q: How will you design the session to ensure the best possible experience for online and onsite participants? Answer: To ensure equal intervention opportunities, both onsite and online participants will take the floor through the provided online tool. Q: Please note any complementary online tools/platforms you plan to use to increase participation and interaction during the session. Answer: The organizers will make use of available polls/interactive tools to engage participants
