11.c
Targets: This session directly supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly: SDG 11.3: "Enhance inclusive and sustainable urbanization and capacity for participatory, integrated, and sustainable human settlement planning and management in all countries." Link to Session: By fostering capacity building and knowledge sharing, the session will help improve urban digital infrastructures, ensuring that cities and communities can leverage technology for more sustainable and inclusive urbanization. Through knowledge exchange, cities can adopt better practices to create digital solutions for sustainable development. SDG 10.c: "By 2030, adopt policies, especially fiscal, wage, and social protection policies, and progressively achieve greater equality." Link to Session: The session will emphasize how knowledge sharing and capacity building can bridge digital divides, particularly in marginalized communities. By improving access to technology and digital skills, the session will contribute to the greater inclusion of underrepresented groups in the digital economy, ensuring more equitable access to opportunities and social protections. By focusing on these SDG targets, the session aims to create an environment where capacity building and knowledge sharing are pivotal to ensuring that the benefits of the digital ecosystem are more evenly distributed.

Description
As the digital landscape continues to evolve rapidly, building capacity and fostering knowledge sharing is crucial to ensure that stakeholders from all sectors can effectively navigate and contribute to the future of the digital ecosystem. This session will focus on the importance of capacity building and knowledge sharing as critical tools for improving the efficiency, accessibility, and sustainability of the digital ecosystem.
We will explore:
Capacity Building Initiatives: How countries, companies, and organizations are investing in skills development, digital literacy, and infrastructure to improve technological adoption and innovation.
Collaboration for Knowledge Sharing: How cross-sector partnerships—between governments, academia, civil society, the private sector, and international organizations—can facilitate the exchange of best practices and lessons learned.
Global Challenges and Opportunities: Addressing digital inequalities and ensuring that capacity building efforts are inclusive, particularly for underrepresented groups such as women, youth, and people in the Global South.
Technological and Innovation Support: The role of emerging technologies (e.g., AI, IoT, blockchain) in driving efficiency and sustainability within the digital ecosystem.
Case Studies and Practical Solutions: Highlighting real-world examples where effective capacity building and knowledge sharing have led to more efficient and inclusive digital ecosystems.
This session will link to the IGF 2025 Issue Areas of Capacity Building, Digital Inclusion, Innovation and Research, and Policy and Regulation, aiming to foster deeper collaboration and shared knowledge in driving digital transformation globally.
