IEEE Future Networks USA & SRM Institure of Science and Technology, India
“This event is co-organised by the host country Norway through University of Oslo (UiO) and Basic Internet Foundation.” Prof. Josef Noll, University of Oslo, Norway Dr. Danica Radovanović, Leibniz Institute, Germany Prof. Sanjram K.P., Indian Institute of Technology, Indore, India
    Speakers
The speaker list is open depending upon who wishes to speak in the Lightning session on anything but must be about the latest happenings in one of the subthemes of the IGF 2025. The speakers can be from anywhere in the world, but must be present in person. Since the session duration is limited to 30 minutes, depending upon the number of willing speakers the time would be allocated, but each speaker will get a minimum of 5 minutes to speak. The potential speakers will need to submit their proposals/titles of the talk with a short abstract, based on which the speakers will be accepted. The selection criteria will be: level of innovation, theme of the talk, and market/business observations. I have followed this format at the IEEE Globecom conferences and they were very popular as it provides an open forum to anyone!

Targets: Industry, innovation and infrastructure build the capacity to deliver ultimate impact. This incudes both who build the capacity and those who will ultimately use and benefit from it. IEEE is at the forefront of innovation in almost all areas of technology. The session will consider all types of proposals for talks.
    Format
A preferred location will be a dedicated podium in the exhibit area or in an area where there is heavy traffic, like during the coffee breaks. Description
“Lightning Talks are a series (usually at least 5 - 6) of 10 minute talks/presentations by different speakers, each introducing a topic or idea very quickly. A set of Lightning Talks is an excellent way to rapidly and compellingly share the latest information about diverse topics from several presenters, without overwhelming the absorptive capacity of the audience.” A Lightning Talk session of one hour will be scheduled and interested speakers will need to sign-up in advance on or before three days before IGF 2025 starts. This session will provide an opportunity to speakers who may have not submitted a proposal or have not been invited in one or more of the sessions, but have a compelling message to deliver to the audience. The exact allocated time would depend on the number of speakers who have signed up up until the deadline to reach to the session organizer. The organizer of the session will review all the requests and will decide on who would be invited to speak. The thematic areas (subthemes) would be rather open, but preference will be given to subtheme of Sustainable and Responsible Innovation. Use of the power point slides in talks is discouraged to allow time for discussions and Q&A with the audience and to keep the format informal as much as possible. When signing up, the interested speaker will be required to provide a title of the talk and an abstract not exceeding 50 words.

Lightning sessions are intended to be in-person. Nevertheless, if remote participation is alloweed, a chat box will be made available on Zoom (or some other collaboration platform). Because the session is only 30 minutes A/V mode of interaction may not be efficient.
