Targets: Developing metacognition—the ability to think about one’s thinking—is crucial in the age of AI, where critical analysis, problem-solving, and adaptability are essential. This aligns directly with SDG Target 4.4, which aims to increase the number of youth and adults with relevant skills for employment, decent jobs, and entrepreneurship. AI-driven automation is reshaping the workforce, making metacognitive skills essential for lifelong learning, digital literacy, and ethical decision-making. By fostering self-awareness in learning, individuals can better navigate AI-enhanced education and work environments, ensuring they remain adaptable in a rapidly evolving world. Metacognitive strategies also contribute to SDG Target 4.7, which promotes education for sustainable development, global citizenship, and critical thinking. Integrating AI with metacognitive learning ensures equitable, high-quality education, empowering individuals to use AI responsibly and creatively.
