Description
In an era of rapid digital transformation, robust data infrastructure is essential for effective digital governance, improved interoperability, and sustainable development. This session will explore best practices, regulatory frameworks, and technical innovations that ensure data integrity, accessibility, and security. Experts from diverse sectors will discuss how scalable, resilient, and inclusive data ecosystems can drive policy effectiveness, economic growth, and digital trust.
The discussion will align with IGF 2025’s focus on data governance, AI, and digital trust, addressing key issue areas such as:
1. The role of interoperable data systems in cross-border digital cooperation
2. AI-driven insights and their implications for governance and development
3.Strategies for enhancing public-private collaboration on secure and equitable data-sharing mechanisms
Case studies from different regions will provide insights into real-world applications of data governance models, demonstrating how governments and organizations have successfully leveraged open data platforms, AI-enabled decision-making, and secure digital ID systems to foster economic and social progress.
This session will offer a forward-looking perspective on building resilient data ecosystems that balance innovation with privacy, security, and ethical considerations, supporting sustainable digital development worldwide.

(2)To maximize inclusivity, questions from both onsite and online audiences will be given equal priority, ensuring diverse perspectives are represented in the discussion. (3)Breakout discussions or quick polls will be incorporated to encourage active participation from all attendees, making the session more dynamic and engaging. (4)Clear session guidelines will be provided in advance, ensuring all participants, regardless of format, know how to contribute effectively. 3.Additional Online Tools & Platforms for Engagement: (1)Slido will be used for real-time polling and audience Q&A, allowing participants to upvote questions and contribute interactively. (2)Social media engagement (#IGF2025 #DataGovernance) will be encouraged to extend the discussion beyond the session, engaging a broader global audience. (3)A shared online document or collaborative board (such as Miro or Google Docs) may be used for participants to contribute key insights, references, or post-session reflections. By integrating these engagement strategies, the session will provide a rich, inclusive, and interactive experience for all participants, whether they join onsite or remotely.
