    Description
On September 22, 2024, the United Nations Future Summit announced the adoption of the outcome document, the Compact for the Future, and its annex, the Global Digital Compact. The Compact proposes to “utilize digital technologies to promote children's rights, provide targeted capacity-building for vulnerable groups, including children, and promote their participation.” Guided by the goals and principles of the Compact, the creation of an inclusive, open, safe and secure digital space for children is a common global challenge. It is impossible to ignore the fact that children's online safety faces multiple challenges, such as online child sexual exploitation and abuse, cyberbullying, exposure to undesirable content and digital addiction. Therefore, global wisdom is needed on how to effectively protect children's online safety and safeguard their online rights and interests in the digital age. Through this workshop, we expect to discuss with policy makers, technologists, educators, child rights protection non-profit organizations and other stakeholders on how to build a safe, trustworthy and resilient child online safety ecosystem through the synergy of all parties, so as to jointly safeguard the future of mankind. The conference will focus on the following issues: (1) Types, advantages and disadvantages, and implementation effects of technical tools for children's online safety protection. (e.g. automatic filtering technology for undesirable content, end-to-end encryption technology, age verification tools, etc.) (2) International policy dynamics on children's online safety protection, discussing policies and laws on children's online safety protection issued by various countries and regions, summarizing best practices, and reasonably identifying the responsibilities of online platforms. (e.g. regulations on the online protection of minors (China), the Children's Online Safety Act (KOSA) (U.S.), etc.) (3) Digital literacy programs for children, parents, schools, and other relevant actors with legal responsibilities to protect children's rights and interests. The flow of the meeting includes: (1) background introduction of workshop topics; (2) expert presentations; (3) roundtable discussions; (4) interactive sessions (real-time); (5) closing summary.

    1. Post-meeting Continuous Participation (1) Share meeting minutes, speakers' views, and meeting-related materials to the community. (2) Encourage attendees to encourage others to participate in the discussion by bringing topics (e.g., #IGF2025 Children's Online Safety and Protection) to punch cards on platforms such as X, Facebook, WeChat, and weibo. 2. Meeting tips: (1)Production of interactive operation manual (text and video) (2)Network stress test link: simulate real-time q & A and group discussion to help users troubleshoot in advance. 3. Ice-breaking and interaction (1)Participants are encouraged to upload a 30-second short video to introduce themselves (including basic information, regions, the most concerned children online safety protection issues, etc.), and automatically generate a "common interest map" through the AI tool to match group discussion partners.
