Description
The rapid development of emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence (AI), blockchain, the Internet of Things (IoT), and 5G, presents both opportunities and challenges for societies across the globe. These technologies have the inherent potential to revolutionize various sectors of the economy, improve efficiency, and drive economic growth. Still, they also raise concerns about data privacy, security, ethical use, and regulatory oversight. As governments, policymakers, civil society organizations (CSOs), and other key stakeholders grapple with these issues, there is a pressing need for collaborative dialogue to share experiences, best practices, and lessons learned across different regions.
The governance of emerging technologies is an urgent and complex issue that requires the concerted efforts of diverse stakeholders. By fostering dialogue, this networking session will serve as a crucial step toward building inclusive and responsive governance frameworks that safeguard human rights, promote innovation, and ensure that technological advancements benefit all members of society.
The networking session will bring together Civil Society Organizations, Private Corporations, Parliamentarians, and other key stakeholders to engage in an open and inclusive dialogue on emerging technology governance. The session will provide a platform for participants to discuss national and regional efforts to govern the emerging technologies, particularly Artificial Intelligence (AI), identify common challenges, and explore and agree on concrete steps to address some of the challenges facing the governance of the emerging technologies.
