    12. Responsible Production and Consumption
    16. Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions
    17. Partnerships for the Goals

Targets: INDUSTRY INNOVATION & INFRASTRUCTURE : Traditional media industry is living a dramatic shift in its business model moving towards a new digital era. PEACE, JUSTICE AND STRONG INSTITUTIONS: This change has not only economic repercussions, but also consequences on current model of democracy based on pluralism and diversity of media. RESPONSIBLE PRODUCTION AND CONSUMPTION: The disappearance of mediators (professional journalists, publishers,...) obliges to move the attention from the control of mediators (as it was in the past) to the empowerment of citizens (readers, viewers, listeners of media), now directly exposed to social media and their algorithmic based priorities. PARTNERSHIPS FOR THE GOALS: An objective like this cannot be achieved without a large consensus and a truly multistakeholder will. Governments alone cannot solve the problems, as well as civil society or industry or academia. The topics that will be discussed in the session are also relevant for GDC implementation 3,4 and 5; for WSIS action lines C3, C5, C9 and C10. The key words for the session are: Artificial intelligence, Media and Content, Rights and Freedoms [Capacity Building]

    Description
EU has built, through a multistakeholder process, a framework of regulation and legislation aiming to put some rules in the digital transition. From the GDPR in 2016 till the AI act and EMFA - European Media Freedom Act still in their implementation phase. This process faced a lot internal resistance in Europe, but is now producing its first fruits. Now it has to sort out from EU boundaries and become a reference or an inspiration for other regions of the world. The recent changes occurred in the USA, proves once more that regulation of the Internet (as well as of A.I.) cannot work only in one region. Many efforts are moving in the same direction from various areas of the globe and would be good to put all those together to create new international standards open that could be adopted by everybody.

some of the speakers will intervene from remote, coordinated by the remote moderator. also will be identified possible intervention from the floor and from remote in order to raise certain questions that are considered relevant, in case this would not emerge from the debate among the panelists. PS: this proposal could also work as a Day zero event, in case this would better fit with the overall IGF programme
