SDGs
Description:
In an increasingly digital world, technical standards play a fundamental role in ensuring interoperability, security, and confidence across digital ecosystems. The development of these standards is not the sole responsibility of any one entity but requires a multi-stakeholder approach—bringing together governments, industry leaders, academia, civil society, and international organizations. Digital cooperation, as emphasized in the UN Secretary-General’s Roadmap for Digital Cooperation, is essential for creating a collaborative, safe, and sustainable digital future. The multi-stakeholder model in standards development fosters transparency and global applicability, ensuring that digital infrastructure and services support the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This workshop will highlight the importance of multi-stakeholder participation in technical standards development, showcase how it contributes to global digital cooperation, and explore pathways for increased engagement in international standardization processes.

The session will be interactive with designated experts holding a dialogue on the role of technical standards in Internet governance while responding to questions asked by participants
Will use social media, LinkedIn and create a dedicated web page to promote the session, inform interested participants on how they can participate in the discussion and collect questions for the experts to address during the session.
