SDGs
Description:
This workshop will explore how gamification can transform digital governance by increasing citizen engagement, policy transparency, and participation. As the Internet continues to shape governance, integrating game mechanics—such as challenges, incentives, leaderboards, and interactive simulations—can make digital policymaking more inclusive and effective. Participants will engage with real-world case studies, hear from experts using gamification in governance and civic engagement, and take part in an interactive policy simulation. Key Focus Areas: • Understanding Gamification in Governance: How game mechanics can enhance public participation in policymaking. • Best Practices & Case Studies: Real-world examples of gamified digital trust-building, civic engagement, and governance frameworks. • Interactive Exercise: A gamified simulation of a digital policy-making process, where participants experience trade-offs, stakeholder collaboration, and decision-making incentives. • Developing Gamification Strategies for IGF & Beyond: How IGF can adopt game-based engagement models for future forums and governance discussions.
