The 2019 edition of the Best Practice Forum on Local Content focused on how to create an enabling environment and identifying good practices for the promotion and preservation of linguistic diversity, cultural heritage and local content particularly in contexts where these are at risk as a result of political shifts and upheaval. Preparatory Process

Virtual meetings: 1 November 2019, 13h00 UTC.
Call for contributions: To explore how the Internet can be used to preserve local language and cultural heritage, particularly in current contexts where cultural and linguistic diversity, artefacts and histories are at risk as a result of political and social shifts and upheaval, the BPF put out a call for contributions to help understand and expose challenges, and gather examples and good practices of how digital technologies and the Internet can be used to promote, preserve and share local culture and content. The BPF would also like to identify best practices of how to manage and promote the digitisation of existing analogue content (printed and electronic media, cinema, music, visual arts etc.) and services. The call was open until 25 October 2019 and the BPF received 36 valuable contributions which have been synthesised into a draft outcome report.
